Our homes are filled with energy either positive or negative depending on what has occurred there in the past. We respond to energy on an unconscious level - some places fill us with energy and we love being there and others may leave us feel heavy hearted and depressed.

If there have been emotional disturbances in your home it can linger in the air and can collect as stagnant energy. If a room makes you feel down, scan it to see what items make you feel uncomfortable. You should get rid of anything that is broken, damaged, not used at all, or related to any unhappy memories.

Remember, the negative energy may not necessarily be yours - buildings can retain energy from past occupants too. Make sure to clear out any items belonging to the previous owner that you don't want.

A simple way to attract positive energy into your home - is by using candle magic. The ritual can be given an additional boost by using the power of Tarot cards

TO BEGIN

Light a white candle and place it in the centre of the room you wish to clear of negative energy. Now choose three cards from the Tarot pack. Do not pick cards at random but rather choose cards that have a positive image and message. For example, The Magician card is a card that represents being in charge of your life and making magic happen by using your talents and natural abilities. The Sun card is a wonderfully bright card that represents happiness and success. The Star card carries a message of hope and is also known as a personal wish card. The Three of Cups suggests celebration and a home filled with love and happiness. The Ten of Cups represents a happy family with all members living in harmony and supporting each other.

When you have chosen your cards, arrange them around the lit candle. Gaze into the flame, breathing gently to relax.

 Next move around the room in a clockwise direction carrying the candle, Let the light of the candle shine into each corner of the room. Corners are often thought of as being areas where negative energies collect so by doing this you are thoroughly cleansing this area.

Place the candle back into the centre of the room and blow out the flame. For extra assurance you may wish to leave the Tarot cards with the candle overnight.
